About the aspiring entrepreneurs thing… We’re hoping to someday operate a community restaurant that’s more than just coming in for a meal. We’re looking to meet new friends, share our passion and spread the wealth.

Here’s a real-time list of what we’re trying to accomplish (check back often; it’s always changing). We know it’s a lot of wishes, but it’s fun to dream:

We’re lookin’ for land. A whole lot of land. Enough for lots of shrubbery, vines, dirt and gravel. Need room for restaurant-adjacent edible garden.

Once we get the land, we’ll be lookin’ for a contractor. We need a building, perhaps two-story… so we can live upstairs and shorten our commute. Does that also reduce our carbon footprint? Renovating an existing building would be fine… as long as it comes with land. A whole lot of land…

In addition to a garden, the land will also hold garden dining space. Last year, we ate 4 meals indoors. The rest of it was outside… on the patio… in the garden. If we can get away with it in Southern California, we ought to.

We’re suckers for wine, so we’ll also need some storage room. If there’s room under the land somewhere, that’d be great. Perhaps an earthened cellar like the one at Chauteauneuf-du-Pape…

We also like pizzas. Something about cookin’ them in a wood-burning oven, the way the Flintstones did it… sounds nice. We’d like to have few of them. It’ll be a nice backdrop to your first-date dinner; you can thank us later.

We know this is pushing it, but we’d really like enough room for some vegetable boxes. Maybe, if the property qualifies as a farm, we can use those vegetables, cook with them, and serve them right back to you. Not unlike those Vietnamese restaurants Kim grew up with where you pointed at a lobster in a tank and ate it 30 minutes later.

Can we get a poultry farm next door?

This goes without saying, but the herbs… they’ll be everywhere. Growing like weeds… in the pathway, in the garden, and on your tabletop.

The chefs… there will be lots of them. They’ll all work together, and they’ll all work visibly. We already have requests for tables near the kitchen, so they can be gawked at while they make their art.

Speaking of art; we hang some. Purchase a canvas; feed a starving artist.

Feeling musical? Tinker on the baby-grand.

Have a dog? So do we; bring your buddy.

Wanna make a meal together? Want your kids to learn how to garden? We can and we’ll show ‘em.

And the feature that ties us all together… the wheelbarrow. It’s a produce exchange bin; drop off your leeks or pick up some oranges. We should all be sharing, right?

Someday, we’ll make this happen. Once we do, we can’t wait to meet you.

    Wow Kim!!
What a great site. Britta is adorable. What a vision the two of you share, I think it absolutely lovely. Put us on the list for a meal in the garden. Love the wheelbarrow feature…sharing, caring, and loving others, this is what I teach my five year old, can’t wait for him to be a part of it , seeing that this truely exists in the world. Send my regards to Barry, Lot’s of Love and Best Wishes,
